What it is
About polypropylene
Polypropylene is one of the most widely used thermoplastics in the world, and in Bangladesh it is the backbone of the woven sack, packaging and housewares industries.
It is light, chemically resistant, and holds up well to repeated flexing — which is why it works for everything from a cement sack to a bottle cap hinge.
Two things decide which grade you need: the polymer type, and the melt flow index. Type controls stiffness and impact strength. MFI controls how the material behaves on your line — lower MFI for extrusion and raffia, higher MFI for injection moulding and thin-wall parts.

PP Block Copolymer
Better impact strength, particularly at low temperature. Used for crates, containers, pails, automotive parts and any moulding that has to survive being dropped.
PP Random Copolymer
Better clarity, gloss and flexibility. Used for clear containers, thin-wall packaging, caps and closures, and pipe systems.

Common questions
PP enquiries
What is the difference between PP homopolymer and copolymer?
Homopolymer is made from propylene alone. It is stiffer, has better heat resistance, and is the usual choice for raffia, BOPP film, fibre and general moulding. Copolymer includes ethylene in the chain, which lowers stiffness but improves impact strength, especially in cold conditions. Block copolymer is used where toughness matters, such as crates and pails. Random copolymer gives better clarity and gloss, and suits clear containers, caps and pipe.
What does MFI mean and which one do I need?
MFI is melt flow index — how easily the molten polymer flows. Low MFI grades are more viscous and suit extrusion processes such as raffia tape, film and pipe. High MFI grades flow easily and suit injection moulding, particularly thin-wall parts. Tell us your process and part, and we will recommend the range.
Which grade should I use for woven sacks?
Raffia normally uses a homopolymer grade in a specific MFI range chosen for tape strength and drawability. Send us your tape denier and line speed and we will match the grade.
Can you match the PP grade I am importing now?
Usually yes. Send us the grade name, the producer and what you make with it, and we will offer the closest equivalent from our principals.
What is the minimum order quantity?
Direct import normally needs a full container load. Stock grades can be supplied in smaller quantities, subject to availability.
Can you arrange UPAS LC terms?
Yes. We work with UPAS LC regularly and can guide you and your bank through the process.
