Why a trading house started farming
For three decades Dunhill has brought raw materials into Bangladesh — resin, chemicals, pigment. Everything we sold, somebody else made, somewhere else.
In 2026 we started our first venture that produces rather than imports. A commercial fish farm at Sonargaon, Narayanganj — close enough to Dhaka to reach the market fresh, in a part of the country that has farmed fish for generations.
It is a long-term investment, not a side business. Fish is the protein most Bangladeshi families eat most often, and demand keeps growing while pond productivity does not automatically follow.

How we farm
Healthy water, healthy fish
Our approach is simple. Healthy water produces healthy fish. We manage stocking density, feed and water quality carefully rather than pushing a pond for the maximum yield it can be forced to give.
Water quality
Regular monitoring of oxygen, pH and ammonia, with pond preparation and water exchange scheduled around the growth cycle rather than around convenience.
Stocking density
Stocked at a level the pond can actually carry. Overstocking raises disease risk, slows growth and costs more in feed than it returns in weight.
Feed management
Scheduled feeding with recorded quantities, so conversion is measured rather than guessed.
Record keeping
We keep records of what goes into every pond — feed, treatment, stocking and harvest. If a buyer asks what the fish was raised on, we can answer.
Food safety
It goes on somebody’s plate
Fish is not a raw material that gets processed three more times before anyone touches it. It goes straight onto a family’s plate. There is no room for shortcuts.
Safe treatment practice
We follow proper withdrawal periods and avoid banned or unapproved substances. Nothing goes into a pond that we would not want in our own kitchen.
Harvest and handling
Harvested to a schedule that protects quality, with cold chain handling from pond to market.
