What they are
Two polymers, two jobs
LDPE and LLDPE are both low density polyethylenes, but the difference in how they are built changes what they are good for.
LDPE has long, branching chains. That gives it clarity, gloss, softness and easy processing — good bubble stability on a blown film line and good sealing. It is the choice where appearance and handling matter.
LLDPE has short, even branches. It is tougher: much better puncture and tear resistance, and better stretch. That lets a converter run thinner film for the same strength, which is where the cost saving comes from.
Most film producers use both, blended, to balance strength against clarity and processability. Tell us your film structure and thickness, and we will recommend the split.

Common questions
LDPE and LLDPE enquiries
What is the difference between LDPE and LLDPE?
LDPE has long branching chains, which gives clarity, gloss, softness and easy processing with good bubble stability. LLDPE has short even branches, which gives much better puncture and tear strength and better stretch. LDPE is chosen for appearance and processability; LLDPE is chosen for toughness and for running thinner film.
Can I run pure LLDPE film?
You can, but most converters blend. Pure LLDPE is tougher but harder to process, with lower bubble stability and less gloss. A blend gives you strength without losing the handling and appearance of LDPE. The right ratio depends on your line, your die and your gauge.
Which one should I use for stretch film?
LLDPE. Stretch film depends on elongation and cling, which LDPE does not deliver. Cast LLDPE stretch grades are made specifically for pallet wrapping.
Which one for agricultural or pond film?
LLDPE or an LLDPE-rich blend, because puncture resistance matters more than clarity. Add UV stabilisation for outdoor use — tell us the exposure period you need.
Can you match the grade I am importing now?
Usually yes. Send us the grade name, the producer and what you make with it, and we will offer the closest equivalent.
What is the minimum order quantity?
Direct import normally needs a full container load. Stock grades can be supplied in smaller quantities, subject to availability.
